Matt, Steve, Connor and Brian had an away day against Flukey Ladies on Monday 2nd February. Our opponents played very well and we had an off day and injuries. Lots of tight games, but we came out on the wrong side in the 9-4 defeat. Team captain forgot we had a match so cue crazy Whatsapp messaging to get everyone rounded up for the match so thanks to all that played. Some things of note.
Brian likes to play wearing a cravat !
Steves car interior lights up like a school disco !
Connor can fit in the back of a Mini !
A home fixture against Flukey Feathers 5 was the first for the mens team after Christmas, but it didn't seem to slow them down. Matt, Connor, Ian and Peter won the contest 12 - 0 to keep the pressure on the leaders in the division.
The next game is also at home against Bournemouth University 3 on 17th February which gives us another opportunity to keep climbing the table. Well done team.

Esme deciding to photobomb while taking pictures of the final !! Love the T-shirt though.

The return fixture against Bournemouth Bengals was an opportunity to exact some revenge on a very competitive game in November. Despite another close match and an improved scoreline, we still came away with a 9-5 loss. It was a very enjoyable evening with a great set of players. See you next year !
Dorchester 5 - 9 Bournemouth Bengals

Its been a busy period for DBC. On Tuesday 25th November, the mens BML Division 5 team played Poole Dolphins. In a very close encounter with one of the teams vying for promotion, DBC came away with a 6-6 draw.
On Wednesday 3rd December, the BML 5 team were away at Bournemouth Bengals. In another tightly contested evening, we unfortunately came out on the wrong side of an 11-3 result. However, the opportunity for revenge is there with the return fixture at Ozzies on Tuesday 9th December.
And finally, congratulations go to team 'Quiz Hemsworth' for winning the annual DBC pub quiz held at The Junction in Dorchester. The winning margin of victory was just 2.5 points. It seems its not just badminton where our members are ultra competitive!! Merry Christmas to all who attended.

Owen and Connor played their first match for the Division 4 SES away at Stanchester. Close and competitive games all round, but the guys were unfortunate to be on the losing end. Plenty more opportunity to get revenge !
Dorchester 2 W0 L6
Next match Tuesday 4th November 2025 @ Stanchester

Warwick competed in the Hampshire Tier 4 tournament on Sunday 19th October at the Westgate Badminton Centre and finished runner up with his partner. Its a great result for them both as they've only been playing together for a couple of months. They managed to beat seeded pairs on route to the final. Well done.
Defeated the 3rd seeds in the group stage.
Won the quarter finals in 3 games.
Won the semi final against a Guernsey mixed pair with the second game being a very tight 26-24
The first evening of the SES season kicked off in Stanchester on Tuesday 7th October. DBC had two teams playing in Division 3. Brian and Simon as Dorchester 1 and Matt and Esme as Dorchester 3. Plenty of opportunity to improve results with the next two fixtures giving us home advantage as they will be played at St. Osmunds. Onwards and upwards.
Dorchester 1 W3 L4
Dorchester 3 W0 L6

DBC is delighted to announce that one of its club members has been called up to play for the Dorset county team in the national county league. Its a fantastic achievement for Warwick and is a just reward for the amount of training and time he puts into badminton above and beyond training the juniors.
Well done Warwick and best of luck for the upcoming matches. DBC will be watching !
In the summer of 2024, Warwick proposed a junior badminton session to be run the hour before the main club session, which would be for Year 7 kids upwards. The session involves a mixture of coaching and playing with the aim to give the kids a pathway to join the club as full members upon completing school.
12 months later and the junior sessions are very popular and well attended. The club has recently invited two of the kids to join the regular club evenings and they have played and competed with the old timers!
Congratulations go out to Warwick for all his hard work and perseverance while the club worked out the teething issues.
If you would like your child to participate in the sessions, please click the Junior booking link from the 'Join Us' menu at the top of this page.

We are delighted to welcome club member Esme to the committee as our ladies officer. Esme's focus is to develop ladies badminton at the club and to increase attendance.
She has some fantastic ideas and the club is starting a 3 month trial of ladies only events from October.
Esme's goals for the club are...
Provide a welcoming environment for new players
Improve ladies participation with a view to having members join the club full time.
Provide opportunities for people to play in a relaxed space without the competitive edge at the club evenings.
Graham and his team successfully earned promotion from the Bournemouth Mens League Division 4 to Division 3. A fantastic performance from the team. Here is Graham with the winners trophy presented at a club evening. Its his to show off and polish for the next 12 months. Well done.
